Dawn Solar Power: Case Study, Flag Hill Winery

Flag Hill Winery in Lee, NH puts green (clean and sustainable) energy into the production of New Hampshire's newest distillery.

Dawn Solar Systems, Inc. collaborated with the winery to incorporate sustainable energy technologies into NH's newest distillery. The system uses the building's roof to collect solar heat during the day and provides cooling for the distillation process by night.

Sustainable achievements:
  1. The local aquifer was protected by using the solar system to cool the process water at night, rather than the alternative of drilling a new water well and taking as much as 100,000 gallons of water from the ground per year, to run the distillery.
  2. By using solar energy for water heating, over 20,000 gallons of oil will be saved in the lifecycle of the business.
  3. 220 tons of CO2 emissions will be avoided.
